Reporting to the Sr. Director of Human Resources, the Facilities Technician & Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting various needs at our Headquarters in Paoli, PA. This requires basic understanding of trouble shooting, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills. This technician responds to all critical and emergency issues within the facility and is responsible for prioritizing multiple demands and making independent decisions based on critical needs.
Year 1 is going to be about:
- Building Maintenance
- Perform general facility repairs such as minor plumbing, minor electric, general HVAC, lighting, painting, and wall repair.
- Perform minor repairs on doors and dock plates to resolve problems and ensure successful operation.
- Problem Solving
- Detect, diagnose, and resolve electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment problems before they impact the operation of the facility
- Facility Cleanliness / Safety
- Oversee and ensure the maintenance shop area is organized, neat and clean.
- Identify and act immediately regarding any safety hazards, spills, etc., to avoid the risk of accidents.
- Use safe lifting techniques and operate power equipment in a safe minor.
- Abide by all stated regulations while performing works, i.e., lockout/tag out procedures, etc.
- Oversee repairs and clean-up of equipment and work areas daily.
- Record Keeping
- Perform necessary data entry (i.e., work order tracking/filing, JIRA ticketing) and keep current tools and documents updated as necessary (i.e., Material Safety Data Sheets). Maintain records to ensure accountability of time, parts and repairs.
- Other Duties / Projects
- Must prioritize tasks to ensure all requests are completed in a timely manner. Communicate with and provide completed Tickets or updates daily to management. Must possess ability to oversee small/medium-sized projects within the facility and provide oversight of Third-Party vendors.
- Conduct monthly building/facility inspections
We can’t skip over some of the specific skills and experience we know are a “must” to be successful. So, we need you to have:
- Education: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a facilities technician or similar role
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems and opportunities - identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective approaches
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with peers and employees; ability to present information and make effective recommendations to senior management.
- Possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to oversee the timely completion of multiple tasks daily
- Good working knowledge of building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFTA) and OSHA regulations
- Ability to be on call, workdays or nights, weekends and overtime if needed
- General mechanical knowledge, basic electrical, HVAC, plumbing and maintenance skills
- Knowledge of general maintenance and repairs
- Skilled trades experience with painting, carpentry and dry wall
