Reporting to the Chief Information Officer the Data Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining robust data integration pipelines between various systems such as internal OLTP databases, third-party vendor platforms, and an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), scoping requirements for advanced reports, developing metrics and dashboards, and making recommendations for process improvement based on analysis of historical data.

 

Year 1 is going to be about:

  • Develop, Extract, Transform, & Load (ETL) scripts and their execution schedules utilizing applications such as SSMS, SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
  • Ensure maximum availability and performance reliability of dashboards and visualizations available via Tableau Server, coordinating with IT Support for maintenance and administrative tasks.
  • Triage, prioritize, manage, and resolve any data related requests and issues generated to the IT Department.
  • Collaborate with representatives from across Turn5’s departments to contribute in analytics and data integration projects.
  • Understand business processes and scope data requirements for reports.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using Tableau and T-SQL with complex calculated fields, table calculations, parameters, filters, window functions, and more as needed.
  • Discover opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement within Turn5 Inc.’s strategy to drive incremental operational success.

We can’t skip over some of the specific skills and experience we know are a “must” to be successful. So, we need you to have:

  • BA/BS in IT, marketing, e-commerce, economics, mathematics, or other related degrees AND at least 1 year of experience working in similar capacity. BA/BS degree requirement can be substituted for 3 + years of related work experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills: including being able to quality-assure, clean, and analyze large data sets to draw conclusions and propose recommendations.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with ETL tools such as MS SQL Server Integration Services. Specific proficiencies required:
    • Creating packages to support ETL process to and from data sources such as, but not limited to, CSV and text files, XML, JSON, MS Excel, MS SQL Server tables, and Tableau Extracts.
  • 1-3 years of experience building data visualizations in Tableau or similar tools.
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting Tableau Server by performing upgrades, installs, and configuration changes
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, text to table conversions, etc) .
  • Data-centric experience working with various applications (OMS, WMS, etc.) implemented within an eCommerce setting would be a plus.
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, batch/cmd, python) would be a plus.
  • Hands on experience developing and querying Data Warehouse(s) would be a plus.
