  • Overview

Turn5 is one of the largest and fastest growing e-commerce retailers in the Greater Philadelphia area.  Best known for our award-winning businesses, AmericanMuscle.com, ExtremeTerrain.com and AmericanTrucks.com, we’ve been engaging car enthusiasts with exceptional products, services, and experiences since 2004.

Our purpose, however, extends beyond selling car parts. We have a commitment to creating meaningful customer experiences at every step of their journey. Whether it’s supplying a unique product that customizes the look and feel of their ride, providing thousands of educational videos for the DIYer or leveraging user generated content to inspire even the most experienced owner, we are obsessed with ensuring we reach as many like-minded gearheads across the globe.

To continue our growth path, we need a Product Owner to ensure we’re consistently delivering a high level of value to our user base. Our scrum process is tailored and continually refined to suit the business environment and the teams working to execute the product vision, so we’re looking for someone flexible in process approach and capable of helping to further refine our work approach. The Product Owner will need to apply strong judgment and skill to blend traditional project management principles and practices with an agile development approach in the right proportions to fit large, complex, mission-critical projects with the appropriate level of planning and oversight that balances agility with predictability.

    Responsibilities

Year 1 is going to be about:

    • Developing a strong understanding of our software product vision and goals – it’ll take time to build a foundation from which to confidently apply and exercise the judgment required to plan sprints and support the teams executing to the plan.
    • Building relationships and trust – learning our people and teams is as important as learning the products we support. Establishing credibility and rapport with team members and business partners is critical in an environment where openness and accountability drive a healthy team dynamic.
    • Supporting product management – working under the Product Manager won’t just be about building judgment and knowledge in your first year at Turn5. You’ll begin to manage the product backlog, plan sprints, track status and iterations on backlog items (e.g. MVP next steps), manage stakeholder expectations, and support project plans driven by backlog dependencies.
    • Supporting development teamworking with our sprint teams to make sure they understand requests, develop appropriate solutions, and that any escalated needs / blockers and judgment calls are resolved quickly and appropriately will fall to the Product Owner once up to speed.
    • Storytelling & grooming - writing clearly worded stories that enable quick comprehension of goals and requirements will be a shared effort with the BA and UX teams. Story governance and grooming ceremonies will belong to the Product Owner once up to speed.

    Qualifications

We can’t skip over some of the specific skills and experience we know are a “must” to be successful.  So, we need you to have

    • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle, and 3+ years of experience working with agile and traditional project management principles and practices. Experience breaking down and prioritizing technical work.
