More information about this job

Turn 5 is one of the largest and fastest growing e-commerce retailers in the Greater Philadelphia area.  Best known for our award-winning e-commerce platforms,, and, we’ve been engaging car enthusiasts with exceptional products, services, and experiences since 2004.

Our purpose, however, extends beyond selling car parts. We have a commitment to creating meaningful customer experiences at every step of their journey. Whether it’s supplying a unique product that customizes the look and feel of their ride, providing thousands of educational videos for the DIYer or leveraging user generated content to inspire even the most experienced owner, we are obsessed with ensuring we reach as many like-minded gearheads across the globe.

To continue our growth path, we need a General Manager to help launch our new distribution center in Kansas City, KS and then own and manage its success from that point forward.  This is a critical leadership role, as the success of this facility is integral to our growth as an organization, so we need someone who has “been there and done that” as it relates to facility set up, vendor selection and negotiation, and hiring and developing high performing teams.

You will be challenged to work both strategically and tactically across all distribution activities.  One minute you might be recommending process improvements to senior executives, the next minute evaluating KPI’s to manage performance, and the next minute negotiating with outside vendors to achieve the best relationship of price and performance.  Regardless of the task, it’s critical you have strong situational awareness and EQ as you’ll work with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Year 1 is going to be about:

  • Working with senior leadership to build out and set up operations in Kansas City.
  • Developing long-term and short-term functional operating plans (goals, objectives, action plans, and budgets), and controlling functional resources for the largest fulfillment operation for Turn5.
  • Recruiting, training, and developing staff to build an effective and stable organization.
  • Designing, implementing, and consistently improving material handling, inventory control, and shipping processes to optimize throughput, minimize cost/investment, and satisfy customer demand.
  • Identifying opportunities for expansion and improvement of scalable fulfillment operations.

We can’t skip over some of the specific skills and experience we know are a “must” to be successful.  So, we need you to have:

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience managing a B2C fulfillment operation (e-commerce highly preferred).
  • Superior leadership, management, and interpersonal skills with a focus on developing staff to meet business demands.
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Greenfield experience preferred but not required.
